Start with your business outcome

The owner of a service company may need inquiries from a specific area, or a store may need to sell a specific group of products. “More traffic” does not yet define the value of that traffic. Write down what activity on the website indicates your interest: sending an inquiry, booking, downloading specifications or purchasing.

Before starting work, check whether these events can be measured correctly. Simply clicking on a phone number does not prove that a conversation has taken place, and opening the form does not mean that you have acquired a customer. Maintain these distinctions in your report.

Assign appropriate subpages to your needs

Prepare a simple map: recipient's need → existing address → missing information → next step. A person comparing solutions needs different information than someone ready to order a service. Instead of creating more similar texts, check if you can expand an existing page.

Google recommends organizing your website in a way that is understandable to the user and the search engine. There is no requirement for a specific number of articles and no guarantee of indexing once they are published.

Establish order and responsibility

Each task should have an owner, a reason, expected effort and a method of verification. Blocking access to an important offer requires a different reaction than a cosmetic change of the description. A good plan takes into account the availability of the developer, content writer and product information approver.

Working example

An air conditioning installation company discovers that the service page does not explain the scope of installation or pricing. The first task may be to refine the offer and the form, and only then a guide on selecting a device. This is an example of decision, not a promise of growth.

Plan an overview, not a one-time action

Set a regular deadline to evaluate implementations. Compare results on the same groups of pages and record offer changes, seasonality and advertising campaigns. A post-publication spike does not in itself prove that a single article caused it. The specialist should be able to explain both the results and the limits of the conclusions.

FOR USE IN PRACTICE

Your checklist

  • Define the purpose and method of counting valuable contacts.
  • Choose the most important subpages instead of optimizing everything at once.
  • Write down tasks, responsibilities and completion criteria.
  • Set a deadline for evaluating the results and making the next decision.
